Cheesemonger

The Cheesemonger’s primary role is focused on the cheese and charcuterie counter. This individual should be authentically enthusiastic about cheese and able to share that love, knowledge and enthusiasm for cheese. All employees must be concerned about sanitation and safe food handling as an overall core value. Providing consistent exceptional customer service is paramount to Victual’s reputation and success and is a requirement for all employees. Some training is expected but the ideal candidate should be knowledgeable about the various categories of cheese, have confidence in that knowledge, and able to share that knowledge, including paring suggestions, with our customers. 


Reports to: Retail Store Manager 


Specific Duties: 

  • Follow all rules regarding food safety and sanitation.
  • Provide consistent exceptional customer service.
  • Receive, store/stock, merchandise, rotate/flip cheeses and other food items; verify/document temperature data from coolers multiple times daily.  
  • Learn all about the current selections – their origin, species of milk, raw vs pasteurized, how they’re made, how long they’re aged, lactose status and any other pertinent information.
  • Interact with the customer, offering samples, tasting notes, pairing suggestions and suggestion selling other add-ons.  
  • Cut, weigh, wrap and label cheeses and cured meats. 
  • Represent Victual by sampling products at private, charitable or community events on an occasional basis.
  • Assist with other store duties (stocking, pricing, cleaning) during down periods.


General Responsibilities: 

  • Maintains the entire work area in a clean and sanitary condition and follows all safety procedures; be willing to clean throughout the day and at the end of the shift
  • Keeps familiar with and observes and supports all store rules and company policies/procedures
  • Correctly and accurately operates a scale and cash register 
  • Answers phones and takes orders for special request items 
  • Be willing to help out in other areas of the store, where needed


Qualifications: 

  • Previous customer service experience preferred.
  • Culinary/entertaining experience preferred
  • Extensive knowledge of, and passion for, cheese; confidence in those abilities required 
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to sell and recognize sales opportunities with customers
  • Highest standards of ethics and integrity, humble, making our customers feel comfortable and important 
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly organized and able to adapt quickly to changing priorities 
  • Self-motivated to succeed, meet deadlines and follow through on tasks 
  • Strong attention to detail for accuracy in all facets of the position 
  • Ability to multi-task effectively, especially during busy periods 
  • Ability to follow policies and procedures 
  • Ability to work days, evenings, weekends and holidays 
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. 
  • Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time 
  • Must be 21 or older


Rave Creamworks Ice Cream Counter

The ice cream counter help’s primary role is focused on providing exceptional customer service to the ice cream customer. This individual should be enthusiastic about artisan ice cream and be able to accurately and effectively communicate about Rave Creamworks being lactose-free. All employees must be concerned about sanitation and safe food handling as an overall core value. Providing consistent exceptional customer service is paramount to Rave Creamworks and Victual’s reputation and success and is a requirement for all employees. On-the-job training is available. 


Reports to: Retail Store Manager 


Specific Duties: 

  • Follow all rules regarding food safety and sanitation.
  • Provide consistent exceptional customer service.  
  • Wait on ice cream customers; hand scoop ice cream cups, pints and quarts.
  • Interact with the customer, offering samples, and suggestion selling other items from the store.
  • Verify/document temperature data from ice cream dipping cabinet multiple times daily. 
  • Represent Rave Creamworks and Victual by sampling products at private, charitable or community events as needed.
  • Maintains cleanliness of the ice cream dipping cabinet area, patio area and restroom.
  • Ring sales on cash registers.
  • Assist with other store duties (stocking, pricing, cleaning) during down periods.


General Responsibilities: 

  • Maintains the entire work area in a clean and sanitary condition and follows all safety procedures; be willing to clean throughout the work day and at the end of the shift
  • Keeps familiar with and observes and supports all store rules and company policies/procedures
  • Correctly and accurately operates a cash register 
  • Answers phones and takes orders for special request items 
  • Be willing to help out in other areas of the store, where needed
  • Assist with closing duties, including vacuuming, trash duty, mopping floors, and washing dishes.


Qualifications: 

  • At least 14 years old 
  • Some type of previous work experience preferred but not required.
  • Excellent and consistent customer service skills with the ability to sell and recognize sales opportunities with customers
  • Highest standards of ethics and integrity, humble, making our customers feel comfortable and important 
  • Outstanding verbal communication skills; outgoing, friendly personality
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities 
  • Self-motivated to succeed, meet deadlines and follow through on tasks 
  • Strong attention to detail for accuracy in all facets of the position 
  • Ability to multi-task effectively, especially during busy periods 
  • Ability to follow policies and procedures 
  • Ability to work days, evenings, weekends and holidays 
  • Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time 


Cashier/Customer Service/Cheese Counter

 The cashier’s primary role is focused on point of sale (POS) counter. This individual should be authentically friendly, warm, and customer service driven. All employees must be concerned about sanitation and safe food handling as an overall core value. Providing consistent exceptional customer service is paramount to Victual’s reputation and success and is a requirement for all employees. On-the-job training is provided.


Reports to: Retail Store Manager 


Specific Duties: 

  • Follow all rules regarding food safety and sanitation.
  • Provide consistent exceptional customer service.
  • Receive shipments, check in merchandise, price/label, stock shelves and rotate inventory so that oldest stock is sold first  
  • Become familiar with the store, the brands we carry, and specific items stocked.
  • Interact with the customer, offering samples, tasting notes, pairing suggestions and suggestion selling other add-ons.  
  • Encourage customers to participate in our loyalty program
  • Cut, weigh, wrap and label cheeses and cured meats as needed. 
  • Prepare gift baskets as needed. 
  • All off-sale/liquor purchases are rung on a separate POS; check ID on all liquor purchases/no exceptions
  • Maintain cleanliness of the cheese counter area, patio area and restroom.


General Responsibilities: 

  • Maintains the entire work area in a clean and sanitary condition and follows all safety procedures
  • Keeps familiar with and observes and supports all store rules and company policies/procedures
  • Correctly and accurately operates a cash register and scale
  • Answers phones and takes orders for special request items 
  • Be willing to help out in other areas of the store, where needed
  • Be willing to clean throughout the day and end of shift


Qualifications: 

  • At least 2 years of experience in customer service preferred
  • Culinary/entertaining/travel experience preferred
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to sell and recognize sales opportunities with customers
  • Highest standards of ethics and integrity, humble, making our customers feel comfortable and important 
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly organized and able to adapt quickly to changing priorities
